RapidMind and AMD To Demonstrate Real-time Medical Image Reconstruction Application at the 2008 SIGGRAPH Conference & Exhibition


WATERLOO, ONTARIO - August 4, 2008 - RapidMind, provider of the award-winning RapidMind Multi-Core Development Platform, will showcase a real-time medical imaging reconstruction application highlighting how RapidMind is making a significant difference in the cost, quality and even kinds of healthcare imaging that can be provided. This live demonstration will run in both RapidMind’s booth, number 761 and their strategic partner, AMD’s booth, number 327 during the SIGGRAPH Conference & Exhibition August 12 to 14 in Los Angeles. RapidMind will be in booth 761 on the exhibition floor.

Dr. Michael McCool, RapidMind chief scientist, will deliver a technical talk at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 12 in Hall G of the conference, that explains how data-driven parallel programming models are key to leveraging the high-performance available from multi-core processors including x86 CPUs and accelerators. Dr. McCool’s talk will include numerous digital media benchmarks, highlighting the performance increases that RapidMind customers are attaining.

Stefanus Du Toit, RapidMind chief architect, will also deliver a technical talk Thursday, August 14 at 9:45 a.m. in Hall G of the conference, that will explore how developers can use the RapidMind platform to leverage the full performance potential of multi-core processors. He will conduct a technical walk-through of the RapidMind API, including code samples from real-world applications using RapidMind.

RapidMind will also be showcasing its multi-core processing power in a variety of industry applications, including:

  • Image reconstruction for the medical imaging industry
